Palliative Care supports patients and their families when faced with a life-threatening illness. It focuses on improving quality of life by identifying, assessing, and treating physical, psychosocial, and spiritual problems associated with the primary illness. The Palliative Care TeleECHO Clinic assists clinicians who lack access to palliative care specialists. An interdisciplinary team of palliative consultants supports and educates providers in the provision of multifaceted palliative care. The clinic includes didactic presentations by specialists and case presentations by community clinicians for discussion, feedback, and recommendations. Clinicians are also given access to evidence-based educational resources. An environment of group learning and the use of best practice protocols reduces variation in care and improves outcomes for seriously ill patients and their families.
